Beijing Olympic 2008 is a success and hopefully this games will create a wave of changes, especially to the Asian Nation where the goverment is still locked in mindset of prejudice towards their own self-concious of trying to hang on to their political stalion. China, is one of the nation that is now open, and not suprisingly that their athletes are seeing sport as a major step for a guaranteed future.
Bravo China, and the chinese goverment have really sees that to survive, a nation have to move forward with ever resourses that they have, that is their people. Hope to see that the chinese athletes will spur others to succeed in sports. This succees is what we shall call " Speak less and work more, result is the answer ".
Malaysia, my beloved country, have the idea such as "modal insan" or human capital development, but I think for the time being, it is merely a gimick because the mindset of our people is not there, I still consider Malaysia population is still has a " subsidize mentality ", not a " survival type" of mentality. Why, because the people always blame each other for what ever failure that been made, not rectifying or resolving the situation. See what happen to Nicol David (Datuk), if she didn't take a drastic action by making Holland as her base for training, I think she won't be the most sought after athlete in Malaysia now. How about the degrace Watson Nyambek? To me, the last time he should take the same action, making oversea as his training base.
Maybe I'm naive about sport as a whole, but see all the Jamaican athletes, most of them base themselves in the US universities, and most of them see sport as their dream for guaranteed future. How about the Malaysian athletes, where do they stand among the world best? Psychological, our Malaysian athletes doesn't have that survival instinct because as I say our mindset is still with that "subsidize mentality". Congratetulation Lee Chong Wei, keep it up and make our people see that sport is a rewarding career, especially to our young generation X or what so ever we call them.
